We’ve tried to find a workaround, but they’re not interested in helping us. It’s very much a “pay us or fuck off” vibe. So, we’re going to let the account die. It’s not what we want, but paying that much money to keep one video online seems ridiculous. We’re sorry. 2/

If you’re a filmmaker or content creator, we’d recommend you not use Vimeo to host your work. Our RoboCop video has just under 5 million views on their platform. Those aren’t astronomical numbers, but it’s enough to trigger this response from their “compliance team”. 3/

If you’re like us and lucky enough to achieve modest viral success, this could easily happen to you. Don’t be fooled by their “Staff Picks” or whatever. They don’t actually want your work to be seen. They told us our bandwidth usage on Vimeo is our responsibility. Lol ok. 4/

We’re not going to fundraise or mint NFTs or anything like that because that’s not why we make stuff. We think crowdfunding is great, but this is a dumb cause. Donate your money to a good charity. Not to a video where RoboCop shoots a bunch of rapists in the penis. 5/

We’re very proud of the RoboCop video, and we’ll find another way to get it back online so people can see it again. In the meantime, go watch it while you can! https://vimeo.com/86014703 Or download it and post it wherever you want. We don’t give a shit! We made it for you! 6/

P.S. The parallels between this whole situation and the Coffin Flop sketch are not lost on us. Pull the plug, Vimeo. I’ll kill you.

Maybe there's some kind of decentralized way to keep it online? This sucks.
@kayvz maybe Twitter can be a place where popular videos can live? Someday

So like a DDCDN? Decentralized Dynamic Content Delivery Network? Maybe a peer to peer hosting service?
