An acquaintance of mine who voted leave to A: "stop the muslims coming here" B: "Give Cameron a kicking" C: "Stop 2 year MOTs" He's just phoned me, mortified. "I'm f**ked, never thought they'd actually f***ing do it. I'm gonna go out of business". Hard to feel sorry.

Yup. Facts have only just struck home. Six months ago he thought it wouldn't happen, thought Labour would save the day by fighting to stop Brexit. He was almost in tears this morning. He's only just realised the equipment he needs to work is all imported from Europe.

What's a 2 year MOT? Speaking as an ex classic, sports & performance car engineer/restorer, I'm baffled. Did the EU propose only testing vehicles over 3 years old every 2 years instead of annually or something?

No. Germany has two year MOTs (they're proposing one year) but not long before the referendum rumours persisted that the UK was considering 2 year MOTs. He thought the EU was responsible.

Surely there is some sympathy if he's realized he messed up? We need to convince leavers they were wrong, not rub their noses in it?

Out of interest, at this point what does convincing Leavers they were wrong achieve? Brexit has now happened & rejoin is a pipe dream for decades. They wanted this, now they own it & face the consequences.
