So Iceland has fully vaccinated significantly more than the U.K. and has proportionately far fewer cases, has vigorous contract tracing and isolation requirements, yet 🇬🇧 lifts restrictions

Calculations often assume the vaccinated can’t spread Covid. Adjusting for the fact they can, might mean it’s much harder, even impossible to reach herd immunity with delta. Hence the importance of the ongoing use of restrictions and self-isolation.

Medical experts in Germany first said a vaccination rate of 70% of the whole population was needed for herd immunity, but when the Delta variant began to dominate, they changed it to 85%.

In France the Tousanticovid app is now providing a breakdown of incidence and admission into intensive care for vax’d vs non vax’d (not quite up to date latest is 26 July, but a good indicator)… very clear that vaccines work
