Surely even the average climate change denier has to understand the difference between weather and climate, right? If you don't think Trump is either actively malicious or an idiot, then you too are actively malicious or an idiot.

Surely even the average climate lyssenkist has to understand the difference between superstition and science, right? If you don't think politicians on "your" side are also actively malicious or idiots, then you too are actively malicious or an idiot.

Surely name calling is a great way to advance the debate. Better than trying to understand other people, see where your and their arguments come from and what they break down to. In the end, if you're actively propagating the name calling, then you're a name-calling propagandist.

Ok, I’m listening. What’s the argument for “it’s cold now, therefor climate change is fake”?

Maybe "climate changists" should make mea culpa or excommunications for those who predicted that by now there would be no more ice on the pole, no more snow in Britain, etc. If you're going to judge the "other" side by its worst rather than its best, expect reciprocity.

No, I’m judging the other side by how their median accepts their worst. The democrats are far more likely to throw their own to the wolves when they act badly.

I'd like to see evidence for that, especially one based on objective badness and not biased by the craze of the day (where everyone suddenly is enraged against something they knew and didn't do shit about for decades). Smells like you're just being in one bubble.

One side had supporters who show up in pizza places searching for child trafficking with guns based on fake news, the other doesn’t.

The other side had university professors use improvised weapons to assault people based on their opinions. And you seem to still be in a premise that there must be a choice between two sides. In the Nika riots, would you side with the blue or the green?

          1) I’ll happily call this guy an asshole. 2) article says “During a search [...], detectives recovered evidence associating Clanton with anti-Fascist and anarchist political groups.”

Sure, and I'll call the pizza parlor stormer an idiot. Now count the number of victims of political violence by either side so far last year. He who refuses to do arithmetic is doomed to talk nonsense. — John McCarthy
