We need masks for everyone in the country. Yes, the healthcare workers need them first, but eventually everyone should be wearing them if we want to lower the R0. People can't avoid some outside activity like shopping for food. Lying at the very, very best eroded public trust.

Countries where everyone is wearing masks have a dramatically reduced rate of spread. I agree we don't have enough masks for everyone right now, but fixing that should be a high priority, not pretending that masks only protect people with medical licenses.

Throughout this crisis, public officials have fallen down on the job. This is only one instance of it, but it is a really irritating instance of it.
