My airplane movie was "Ad Astra". Competently filmed and well played—but the scenario was empty. Formulaic, taking no chances, wasting all that talent with precious little things to say. Why do they even bother?
They could have done a great psychological movie on low budget by cutting the meaningless action and replacing the exposition by dialogue. Or a great action movie by cutting the weak psychological story and adding some suspense against worthwhile foes. They did neither.
