Russian anger is especially acute given Poland itself invaded Czechoslovakia a year before the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. Which Moscow claims the Soviets only signed because western powers, and the Poles, had already capitulated to Hitler with 1938's Munich Agreement.

Russian experts note that Poland never declared war on the Soviets & tend to believe the USSR "liberated" Poland from Nazi Germany. Poles would counter that this "liberation" merely led to a 44-year communist "occupation." Anyway, Moscow-Warsaw relations are now at rock bottom.
