Ikiru (1952) is a beautiful movie. Great storytelling: as in my favorite Opera, Tosca, one character drives the last act after he's already dead. The story is inspiring, yet realistic. The psychology and the politics are on point. Ozu is masterful as always.

Why did I think it was Ozu? Oops. It was Kurosawa. Mea culpa.
