Similarly, my observations suggest there is a limit to how much dogma religions and ideologies can brainwash into their members before common sense prevails unhampered by dogma on other topics. 2/

This limit to dogmatism might explain why the Christian Science Monitor can be so spot rational on many topics: Christian Science's dogma quickly exhausted the human budget for irrational bullshit to adhere to, leaving their believers relatively unbiased on those topics. 3/

However, limits to dogmatism can be pushed back: a- for very intelligent people who can deal with much more dogmatism and more "advanced" dogmatism than the average idiot. b- for dogmas that explicitly undermine reason as such, in general and on all topics. 4/

The most dogmatic, of course, will be the very intelligent believers in some radical anti-rationality dogma—whether this dogma is some "modern" Christian sect, some backward Islamic school, or rabid post-modernism.
