I'm very happy to announce that my novella ANONYMA will be published by Grimscribe Press ometime in 2022. Thank you so much to @jon__padgett at @GrimscribePress for his continued support of my work. I'm so happy!

I think Hereditary is one of the most evil & disturbing films ever made & I never want to see it again, but to me that means it was a perfect horror film.
So here's a question: Is the perfect horror film the one that disturbs you so profoundly that you can never watch it again?
I'm thrilled to announce that my Medieval horror short story A THOUSAND ALARMING PRESENTIMENTS OF EVIL will be published in the Summer 2021 issue of Breath and Shadow quarterly journal of disability culture and literature. I'm very grateful.
Michael is having surgery today and he'll be in the hospital overnight. Please send some love and good thoughts his way.
Got an acceptance for my first ever academic/nonfiction piece in a peer-edited volume 😭😭😭
Thank you to , , , and everyone who came to see and I read at KGB last Wednesday!
It was a much-needed positive experience. Thank you so much to everyone for the positive reception to my first full-length novel in-progress.
I am officially an Associate Member of the Association of American Literary Agents, and I can't wait to announce a big deal I am finalizing for one of Michael's works. Very exciting!
Me & on the cab ride home from me winning three awards at school this past Wednesday! It was a much-needed happy day.
I got an A+ in my final class! Closing out my program with a GPA of 3.966
Michael is going into surgery in about an hour. Please send him well wishes.
My husband 's story MILKING (from Antisocieties, published by @GrimscribePress) was listed on Ellen Datlow's Recommendations for Best Horror #14 long list. The collection is as good as anything from E.F. Benson, Conrad Aiken, Robert Aickman & should be widely read.
Please recommend cool women in horror academia I can follow! Thank you!

Seeing more and more accounts of abusive men in weird fic makes me increasingly thankful that I got to marry what is apparently a unicorn in the business, a sweet and authentic gentleman. Five years together in 2 months.
“Michael Cisco’s works immerse the reader in worlds that are not simply dreamlike in the quality of their imagination but somehow manage to capture and convey the power of the dream itself.”

I read all of ANTISOCIETIES last night and I think Water Machine is the best in the collection. It's somewhat jarring to read work by your spouse at times, but the collection is really strong. Reminiscent of the works of Silvina Ocampo and Robert Aickman, I think.
I will be presenting my paper "The Soul of Antique Aegyptus: Vanishing and Cultural Temporality in H. P. Lovecraft’s The Cats of Ulthar" at Troy University's virtual Conference on Domestic Cats in Literature on Friday, June 11th.
I will be reading alongside at next month's installment of the Fantastic Fiction Reading Series at KGB. A big thank you to for inviting me.
I hope to see some folks there!
I got an A in Medieval Death and an A in German Translation. Just waiting on my French Translation course grade. Not bad for first semester of grad school while being totally physically and emotionally fried.
I was accepted to yet another academic conference, that's like my 5th this year so far.
Thank you for including my short story "Dead in September" from the Hymns of Abomination anthology on the Recommendations for Best Horror #14 long list. I'm on hiatus from writing due to severe migraines, but it feels good to see my work remembered and appreciated.
I won the Helen Gray Cone Fellowship for Graduate Study in English. Yay!

I'm so sorry. I'm not Trans but disabled. I went to the ER because I was suicidal in 2019 and the intake nurses laughed and mocked me. Having said that, many other nurses have been angels. But many carry some pretty archaic prejudices and cruelty. You deserve better. Please rest!
It's been a while since I posted about my writing. ANONYMA is still available from Grimscribe Press.

Last night I watched A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night. What a masterpiece. Spectacular in every way.
I'm back temporarily to share that is about to embark on a book tour to promote his new novel, PEST! Including virtual and in-person appearances.
West Coast dates are TBA.

I got waitlisted at NYU for the MFA in Creative Writing! I know a lot of people get upset with being waitlisted, but this helps me see I have value and I'm happy about it.
My biggest advice to young writers is to have solid, impenetrable boundaries between the personal and professional, and to never befriend or be actively engaged with writers who present themselves as good people & then speak viciously/violently about others in private.
(1/2) I maintain that The Crooked God Machine is the most impressive, brilliant, and devastating novel I've ever read. I'm currently trying to help out find a press to reprint it because I deeply believe it deserves a wider, louder release.
My collection OF ONE PURE WILL is getting a wider release this September from Trepidatio Publishing & I'm looking for opportunities to speak on podcasts & such to promote the book. If you would be interested in speaking with me about stories and spookiness, please reach out!
So... the academic side of horror may be the right one for me? Everyone I have met this week during two separate conferences has been so genuine, kind, and welcoming.
Please follow on Instagram to see updates about his latest book releases and more. His next novel PEST will be released from in March 2023.

I'm very happy to see blurbs, books, and interviews of flooding my twitter timeline! We are in the process of securing a big deal for him in the coming weeks. Excited to announce once contracts are signed.
My collection OF ONE PURE WILL is coming out in September from Trepidatio Publishing & I'm looking for opportunities (podcasts, written interviews, guest posting) to spread the word about the book. Please share and DM me if you have any suggestions. Thank you!

Thank you, everyone, for celebrating my positive publication news. I'm trying to change and focus on the good things and I appreciate the support.

This is one of the biggest problems I have had writing stories from a disability perspective and workshopping them. The critique is inevitably a way to make them appealing to an abled reader and completely misses the point. ☹️
Herman has been very upset all morning and I can't figure out why.
Please consider watching my virtual presentation "Narratives of Disability in the Haunted House," which is part of the Ann Radcliffe Conference at StokerCon. I talk about THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE & THE CHANGELING through the lens of disability theory.
I had a much better day at the cat shelter. Met some cool new people, fed kittens, gave Greyson his meds, learned data entry. Here is a kitten named Toffee who took a liking to me.

Thank you for the kind thoughts, everyone. He's out and we're heading home now.
Rhody was adopted today. I'm so happy for him! I'll miss him, though.
Here's me with my friend Barbara. We were so lucky to be able to graduate together. We've endured a lot (including that long-ass ceremony, lol).

Can anyone recommend some great crime novels? My mom is a big crime novel fan and looking for some new stuff to read.
I made this necklace today. I wish the picture would capture how gorgeous it is.
BECOMING GREEN was an official selection of 7 film festivals in 2022!
2023 will bring word of some more festival decisions.
I'm so grateful to the entire cast and crew for making this film possible.
You don't have to be kind when people hurt you. Kind of like how you don't have to refrain from complaining when you're disabled and in pain for the comfort of everyone else.
SO COOL to see 's PEST mentioned in this article!!! And lots of great other reads to check out.

Thank you to everyone who watched my disability-focused presentations at the 50+ Shades of Gothic Conference and the Ann Radcliffe Academic Conference at Stokercon. I hope to present a few more papers in this realm soon. Right now working on pieces by Hawthorne & Conan Doyle.
I had to say goodbye to Greyson today. He's going to a foster home for a while. I probably won't see him again. I'll miss him.
Being a writer who doesn't drink has been just as socially isolating, if not more, than being a disabled writer.
This is a repeat announcement, but I'm doing one last push!
will be reading from his new book, PEST, on Wednesday, March 29th at 7pm in Industry City, Brooklyn.

One of the bracelets I made tonight. I'm hoping to launch my Etsy shop once I get about 50 of them finished. They're all Medieval, Occult, and Lovecraft-inspired. I'm still trying to perfect closing the ends but I'm improving every day.
Louis Jay, Lola May, Marshmallow, Winston, and Dublin have all been adopted.
I signed my first book contract today. Made sure to do it looking as unkempt as possible to cement the fact that decaying freaks can succeed
