    ATLAS on Maunaloa saw a meteor last night. These are 3 consecutive images, the middle one is of the meteor, it really lights up the sky!

    After additional followup observations, C/2019 K1 no longer has interstellar orbit solutions and is "just" an Oort cloud comet possibly making its only pass ever through the solar system.

    The MPC announced two ATLAS comet discoveries today: C/2019 J3 and C/2019 K1. While both are classified as long-period comets, K1's best-fit orbit does not yet rule out interstellar origin. Stay tuned.
