just read the words "incel stan"pic.twitter.com/bN1xvHwx7O

Being incel may not be a mental illness, but the factors driving one to join such an ideology (severe loneliness, lack of human intimacy) certainly breed a number of mental health issues and like most extreme ideologies its members would be helped by better mental health services
-
there are many lonely mentally ill people out there that dont align themselves with an ideology that calls for the rape and murder of women
-
And i do apologize if i come off as brash. It's hard to properly discuss somthing as nuanced as this in 280 character blocks. It's been a rather emotional 36 hours.
-
i understand all that but that is not how this specific conversation is being phrased. it isnt "these people have MH issues what can we do to grow our MH services" its think pieces ignoring the underlying misogyny that fuels these people and putting it all down to mental illness
-
Its scapegoating pure and simple and all it does is hurt people and further stigmatize mental illness
-
I don't see it as scapegoating per se, but I do understand the stigma concern. Mental illness is all lumped together in a way physical illness isnt. Even though that is stupid. Depression and schizophrenia are as unique a sa broken arm and obesity.

Elliot Roger wrote an entire manifesto detailing his hatred of women and it was mass reported as a mental illness issue
-
tbh i dont really want to talk about this anymore. its probably upsetting for both of us and not very productive
