I have never heard from Mr Seeff before, and his first correspondence is to try and highlight my Muslim identity and bracket me off with the behaviour of an organisation I have nothing to do with - indeed I’ve never heard of them, why would I have?
Has he sent a public letter to the local Conservative MP, Iain Duncan Smith, asking him if he agrees with Boris Johnson’s comments on Muslim women? Why is he singling me out on this issue?
As he says, there’s lots that we probably disagree on,why is he choosing this issue to debate publicly? Wouldn’t it make more sense to talk about the economy or cuts to public services given this is something Lib Dems supported and I didn’t? After all I do run a policy think tank
Interestingly, I never received an email from Mr Seeff to offer solidarity when we were dealing with an Islamophobic Tory councillor a few months ago. Also, the local Labour Party has knocked on thousands of doors in recent months and no one has ever mentioned the IHRC!!!
This letter is shameful & in the current climate this is a dangerous campaign to run. To all the people who are planning to use my identity against me in the GE campaign, you’re wasting your time because it will be firmly rejected by the residents in Chingford & Woodford Green.
This is a very well established Lib Dem tactic. They can be racist as the worst of them, at local whilst nationally pretending to be progressive. Lib Dem HQ should have to address it too.
Trouble is all parties have issues with racism as we see in Labour that they have a problem with anti semitism and the Torieswith Islamophobia - however I believe most the vast majority of members of all parties are not racist
awful. How dare he presume to know anything about the situation and pour doubt upon your lived experience.
