The very fact that things of any kind exist at all should be enough science fiction for most people.

It's not about artificial or alien intelligence. Someday we must find our own intelligence as human beings.

Viruses will always seem scarier than mass extinction & warming because we're social animals whose politics of proximity writes the book we read each day, stories told in cities lost to the truth we're all bound to a fragile life-support hurtling through the indifference of space

And thus the universe is balanced, and symmetrical. Look up a word in the Wikipedia called Enantiodromia.

A totalitarian government invests billions in face-recogition tech to profile citizens, identify dissenters at rallies etc. The same govt is forced to advise people to wear face-masks due to extreme pollution, or the spread of nCoV-2019 coronavirus. I *love* the irony.

Just watched The Wandering Earth ( 流浪地球) a Chinese sci-fi disaster movie based on a story by Liu Cixin (the reigning King of Chinese science fiction). It makes Roland Emmerich seem like the director of Friends.

In a parallel universe, Earth's technological infrastructure has collapsed due to climate change by 2029 AD. The few extant computers are worshipped like ancient Gods. The Lithium Wars continue. Someone is trying to rebuild the internet using paper, and spaceships with origami.

Here, millions of mixed shades and shadows, drowned dreams, somnambulisms, reveries; all that we call lives and souls, lie dreaming, dreaming, still; tossing like slumberers in their beds; the ever-rolling waves but made so by their restlessness. - "Moby-Dick", H. Melville

Yes, it's a portrait of the Sufi master, Sheikh Mu'in ud-Din Chishti, by Bichitr (Coll. ). The globe came into India c. 1618 CE, and became a handy symbol of worldly power in Mughal art. The crown indicates the Divine. The image links spiritual and temporal power.
