A friend and I made this 2.5D game rendering engine last week, pair programming all the way through! It’s been tons of fun and all along we’ve been guided by excellent book on the Wolfenstein 3D engine!

There has to be better SNES documentation than the Book 1&2 (). What did people who wrote commercial games in the 90s used back in the days? There has to be some sort of "SDK" or extensive hardware/software documentation. The Genesis had a good VDP one.

With the number of high quality SNES emulators, I am surprised nobody wrote a book about the SNES hardware and how each game effect was accomplished.

I am deeper and deeper inside the Another World rabbit hole. Today I read how the EGA (PC) and the OCS (Amiga) were release almost at the same time (1984/1985). They clearly were designed with different goals in mind (2bits/channel EGA vs 4bits/channel OCS).

Memory is weird. I cannot remember stuff I read this morning. However during Frank Savage interview, I was able to correctly recall the arcane name of Strike Commander anti-runway device. "Durandal". That was more than 20 years ago.
