The authors seamlessly weave together organizing theory (mainly Alinsky & Piven/Cloward) and a ton of very compelling histories of domestic and international social movements - MLK, Otpor in Serbia, Earth First!, Gandhi, Egyptian revolution, Act Up, Dreamers, & more.

As someone who accidentally got thrown into a social movement, I learned a ton. I found myself writing “Yes! Same!” in the margins throughout. Not just theory - lots of practical insights. It felt like it was describing *exactly* what Indivisible is aiming for. Highly recommend!

Ever read "Hegemony How To"? That one was great. It teaches how to avoid the left's normal pathologies and reach outside the "clubhouse".

Literally just stared it today!
@Leahgreenb recommended it next. Also read Rules for Radicals for the first time after Uprising. The tactics chapter is excellent/timeless but everything else is meh. - Show replies
