There are only two kinds of journalists in Canada now: those who are paid by Trudeau and those who are banned by Trudeau.

  5. Yikes. In Romania, under Communists, anyone who had a typewriter had to register with police (and leave a sample of its typing, to compare against any illegal samizdat). Pretty much the same.

Media representatives are already lining up for their licenses from the Trudeau government.

Don't give Minister Guilbeault credit for walking back his comments about licensing media. All he said today is that he won't require licenses from "news organizations." He didn't rule out imposing a licensing regime for other media platforms.

It’s almost like a lifelong Marxist street protester, who has never run anything his whole life, might not be quite fit to run a multi-billion dollar government department, run an industry, or even run his mouth.

I've read the report, it definitely does say news websites.

Such a bizarre damage control exercise by Trudeau’s minister of censorship. He confirms the worst. Listen to this to the end — they absolutely still plan to have government licenses for media. He says so:

  14. The most mocked-man in Canada today, Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault, is one of the protected people the government comedians at the CBC state broadcaster are not allowed to joke about, because he’s their paymaster. So day-late SuperBowl jokes will have to do.

I will NEVER register with the federal government for 'permission' to share my views. Communist-style Authoritarians can go fuck themselves.

Thus is just those “fuckers” in the (still run by ) trying to control the press. Feels like - which is no surprise given Trudeau’s adoration of communism like controls and polices. RT to say NO.

We've been told Steven Guilbeault is supposed to be a rising star for the Liberals. Some rise. Some star.

When the Liberals banned me from covering their campaign it was apparent they have no respect for press freedom. Licensing would let them get away with only letting government-approved journalists do their jobs.

The question for is why is he unwilling to categorically reject widespread Internet licensing that undermines free speech? Why silent on net neutrality violations and proposals that breach USMCA commitments? Saying no should not be hard.

I've seen this 5 times and I still can't tell if Trudeau is going to force me to get a license. "On the issue of discoverability media organizations would need to have a licence but that would not – and media can be confusing I recognize that." What are you tripping on, Minister?
