Fights over speech are important! This is political conflict that needs to happen. But hopefully we keep it from serving, or being worsened by, the business models of social media platforms and the shifting priorities of corporate marketing departments.

No, this is exactly wrong! Social media dogpiling may be bad, but that's criticism, not cancelling. Cancelling is getting people fired and otherwise unable to make a living. I get that you're trying to do some cute "but youuuuu are the real cancellers" thing but it's just false

A problem with holding any opinion on the internet is that there's always a large group of people who claim to believe something similar who will do shitty things. We never feel the shittiness is representative when it's our side.
I’m guilty of retweet’s. When people harassing POC in public spaces , calling the police on those people, I retweet and have tweeted at their employers.
One thing that comes to mind: if I'm going to join in on a group mobbing of someone for views I abhor, I try to (I don't always - I'm tempted to viciousness too) focus on wrongness of ideas and not badness of people And I *never* (not once) try to get their employer's attention
