Whoa. @imillhiser did some rough math and: If Republicans win the GA specials, the Dem Senate *minority* will represent 20 million more people than the GOP majority. If Dems win, the Senate will be 50-50, and Dems will represent 41 million more people.https://www.vox.com/2020/11/6/21550979/senate-malapportionment-20-million-democrats-republicans-supreme-court …

The post-election sniping from the center is obscuring the fundamental problem for Democrats: consecutive D+2, D+8 and D+5 elections amount to a Senate minority and the barest majority in the House. It is likely that two more solidly D elections would erode Senate margin further.

As @imillhiser says, today is a good day to abolish the Senate.

Why? I thought the House was there to represent the "people" and the Senate was there to represent the "States". Isn't that why Senators were originally appointed by the States?

This makes the case for Admitting DC and Puerto Rico, even if its a 50-50 Senate with VP-elect Harris as the tie-breaker. We've got to root out this tyrannical minority party that has consolidated so much power in itself.

Democracy and equal representation makes the case, but that is a nice perk.

Commentators and pundits should keep this in mind when they talk about how Dems are failing to reach voters with their message, and the nation is evenly divided. It's not.

And let's not forget pols on both sides of the "moderate" "progressive" "divide". Let's savor the win and recognize that our *coalition* is far broader than the revanchist Republicans, and growing. We have the mandate. Let's act like it.
