Bernie’s strength is that he can win over some voters who are skeptical of Democrats - like Joe Rogan. If you think getting Trump out of office is actually important, that’s a good thing, and he should lean into it.

This’ll get me ratio’d or whatever but a lot of Twitter seems to want to enforce a politics where you only work or ally with people you agree almost totally with. but to get anything done in our system requires working with people you often disagree with.

and Rogan isn’t even conservative. wait till the next Democratic president is back to cutting deals with Mitch McConnell, or desperately trying to get Lindsey Graham to vote for something...

Ironically Bernie frequently derides people for working with those they disagree with

Ezra-really? We need to embrace bigots to win? Really? I respect you a great deal, but your privilege is showing.....How would you feel if you were trans, or of color, and you heard, "we need to embrace someone who wants to harm you to make progress. Sorry."

You don't need to embrace bigots, but you do need to be able to sit across the table from them and try to find common ground wherever possible. This should not even be controversial. This is standard politics. This is what politics is.

That point doesn't work the way you think it does. Bernie is legendary in DC for driving away people who ought to be his allies. That's why Hillary owned all the superdelegates...you can't work with Bernie, even when (like with Warren) you almost totally overlap.

The problem is Bernie folks constantly use purity tests for THEIR issues - supporting universal HC or affordable college w/anything other than Bernie’s plan is bad. But suddenly everyone who isn’t a straight white cis man is should “compromise” on people attacking their humanity.

I 100% agree we have to work with people we don’t agree with. It’s called compromise! The Space Force/federal employee parental leave bill is a great example. But this argument falls apart because Bernie folks want to set the terms for where we can compromise & where we can’t.

Great, but when Dems compromise with moderate Rs to get something done, Bernie and AOC are the first to call them corporate shills and sellouts. Why is it ok when Bernie does it but not ok when Hillary or Warren or any other Dem does it?
