To "elevate the dialogue" a bit, I'm struck in this Cooperman-Warren letter, as I am so often in these dust-ups, by how much what billionaires respond to isn't the details of tax policy, but the respect their labor is given. http://fm.cnbc.com/applications/cnbc.com/resources/editorialfiles/2019/10/31/CoopermanLetter.pdf …

Which makes sense. These guys are post-economic. The money has long ago stopped buying things. It's a marker, for them, of worth and accomplishment. To take that away is what hurts, and what they don't like about Warren is she refuses to genuflect.

Obama went out of his way to emphasize that his proposed tax increases weren't meant to punish success, tied the concept of the Buffett Rule to Reagan, and so on -- and it produced the exact same reaction from Cooperman...https://www.businessinsider.com/here-is-the-full-text-of-leon-coopermans-letter-to-president-obama-2012-10 …

I can't get past the fact that billionaires don't understand how they're just as interchangeable as workers. You think we wouldn't have online commerce without Bezons? Or social media without Zuckerberg? Or big box home-improvement stores without Langone?

I mean, if one takes the logic of supply and demand out a few steps, all new businesses will come into being so long as there is demand for them. Why does the so-and-so who happened to be the one who started it deserve billions when, in their absence, it still woulda happened?

Don't worry this time dad's sorry and the beating will stop. It's a con. He's all about the wealth and, more importantly, the power that comes from that wealth.

More like he wants to be praised for being so good at exploiting a massively rigged system. Bank robbers could raise the same complaint about paying taxes.
