It's hard to believe mice aren't "smart" for operant behavior. They are just a prey species that need a good acclimation to where/what they are going to be/do.

Running operant behavior today: the mouse I put inside box 1 escapes, goes to box 2, kicked the other mouse out and start collecting rewards there. The mouse from box 2 was outside just hanging out.

Sharing to help my friend. Science funding in Brazil has been in incredible decline, alternative approaches like this are necessary to pursue the academic career.

However, this whole process takes time and effort and usually does not yield immediate returns for your career, which drives people not to do it. We need metrics to count data/code/protocols sharing for career advancement, because this process is science advancement

At workshop someone brought up that more incentive is needed for people to take on Open Science, and that's extremely important. The majority of those more open to sharing data/code are young researchers. 1/

Quite interesting recent paper by Wärnberg and Kumar: Their simulations 'provide an explanation of why learning is easier when it does not require the neural activity to leave its intrinsic manifold.'
