2 of those councilmembers are citywide reps—González and Mosqueda. The other two are district-level reps: Sawant (District 3) and Morales (District 2). So if you live in either of their districts, I think you can count on your councilmembers to do the right thing.

I also think we have 2 definite “No” votes—Pedersen (District 4) and Juarez (District 5). I want to be wrong. But before I tell you to contact these two reps, I’d sooner suggest that you start preparing to run for their seats in 2023.

Here’s a Seattle City Council district map. If you believe #BlackLivesMatter , I think you have a unique responsibility to use any means necessary between right now and the 3PM budget meeting on Tuesday (tomorrow) to make these three councilmembers hear from you.

Here’s their contact info. You don’t have to live in their districts to contact them, but it helps if you do: Most white politicians aren’t motivated primarily by anti-racist principle, but by political self-preservation. They need to know there’s a consequence for inaction.
