I just watched the video of Linda Vester, in which she accuses Tom Brokaw of harassing her. She seems very credible to me.
The predators and the incel guys all believe that women are a kind of prize that go to successful men. The predators are successful men who are trying to claim their prizes. The incels are mad that they don't get the prize.

This is a really common belief among men, the idea that women are very strongly drawn to successful men.

Some of the metoo guys almost seemed to believe so strongly in the seductive power of their success that they believed the women appreciated their attentions. Charlie Rose said stuff along those lines.

I guess their idea is that saying no, pushing back, is part of some seductive dance between the sexes. Because *of course* a woman is going to be attracted to someone so successful.

The incel guys, on the other hand, have internalized the same world view. But if that system was real, they wouldn't have much of a shot with women.

They're filled with rage about their perceived place in the hierarchy. And the rage guarantees that they'll be alone.

A guy like Charlie Rose is odd, because he's systemically carrying out harassment, and perhaps lying to himself about what he's doing.

I mean, a guy like Weinstein knew what he was doing, it was clear in his mind. I'm doing this terrible thing, because I want to, and because I have the power. Hey, I'd better make arrangements with my company and my lawyers to keep me safe while I do it.

But other guys seem to believe that their power makes them attractive, so what they're doing isn't really that kind of harassment. A jr. correspondent is *lucky* to have the attention of an anchorman.

And all the evidence to the contrary -- saying no, pushing back, etc. -- is just part of some dance of seduction. Those things are part of the feminine role in the process, not evidence that you are, in fact, doing something really awful.

This is probably possible only because their enormous power distorts things tremendously. Very often, women are afraid for their jobs, so they don't say, "Hey, get the fuck away from me you creep!"

Their power distorts the reaction, and when the predator looks at that distorted reaction, he can use it to lie to himself, to tell himself that it's all a flirtation.
