If you are salaried, there's almost no way to minimize your tax burden. Property and state taxes over $10K and non-reimbursed employee business expenses no longer deductible.

I don't know who Mollie hemingway is but if she paid $0 to $750 per year in federal taxes over the past 5 years, or recently claimed a $78 million refund, the IRS may have some questions for her.

The IRS doesn't have the funding to investigate people with complex returns. Only regular people get in trouble for this stuff.

It's not like they don't have reporters* there who could—oh, I don't know—investigate that claim. If you think Biden coordinated with the NYT, prove it. *Using this term loosely.
