Everyone I ever met was really bright in some areas and dumb as a rock in others. This is totally normal. But Musk is an extreme case (as I suspect is Mercer). This is just like how we used to cringe at ‘rock gods’ talking about politics in the 70s.

the only thing he's brilliant at is sales, though
-
What’s wrong with being good at sales? Massively valuable
-
He’s exploiting his workers. That’s what’s wrong with being “so good”. People are so warped into believing that the so-called good capitalists are models to live by: in reality all they do is exploit their workers.

Not allowing them to unionize, not giving them living wages, literally hoarding wealth by engaging in wage theft. He’s a capitalist, that is what they do.

It’s illegal to explicitly tell them not to, but it’s legal to intimidate them like EVERY union busting business has done (like Tesla). Their wages range from $17-21 an hour, which is well below the average 29 for vehicle manufacturing.https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/04/25/workers-involved-in-union-activities-say-tesla-is-illegally-intimidating-them.html …

“Trade unions sow social division among classes.” ==>TRANSLATION: “Trade unions make billionaire tycoons like me really mad and resentful of our working class underlings.”

You realize he’s talking about using the free market to solve a free market problem... so literally in the same vein as your first statement. You literally think the dude is fascist, or is this just to get likes from ppl who co-sign everything MSM does?
-
Under fascism both working class organizations (unions) and an independent media are seen as a threat to a unified society and must therefor be abolished or made completely subservient to the ruling council of military men and industrialists. Musk wants to be that industrialist
-
Remarkable how that also describes the reality of every communist state that ever existed, too. It’s almost like rule by moralistic ideologues at either end of the spectrum converges to a single totalitarian point

-
The greatest victory of liberalism was convincing people it’s not an ideology enforced at gunpoint.
-
So the choice is between economic and militaristic modes of oppression? I’ll take economic, then, since I at least have a chance to fight back, thanks.
-
It’s not a choice, and if you don’t believe me check out the US military’s history of “opening markets”
-
Then what was your point, exactly, in describing fascism the way you did above? You certainly seemed to advocate against it, but you’re apparently embracing the inevitability of that kind of reality.
-
History has shown us that the decay of liberalism is what precedes every fascist power, so while I am opposed to fascism as a political project, I also see it’s inevitability as a political force to be contended with in our time, given liberalism’s current decline.
