The problem with a lot of "free thinkers" is any thought that freely pops into their head (but that was inserted through a zillion interactions with hegemonical thought), they think they really thought it by themselves.

People who identify as free thinkers are usually folks who don't like being questioned and are too lazy for actual critical thought. Critical thinking requires effort, research and a willingness to recognize faults based on new information.

I'm struggling with the logic of this statement. If you can't understand anything how do you analyse these thoughts that pop into your head. How does a lack of understanding translate into an inability to form a hierarchy of validation?
