We live in the best moment in history, a great part due to those incentives. Lying to costumers is fraud in any system. Capitalism invest in the long term: space travel, space mining, autonomous driving, IA, quantum computing....

All of these examples grew out of publicly-funded or subsidized research and development programs, not from corporations with the incentives referred to in the post. Innovation is monetized by capitalists, but not always directly developed by it.

Without those incentives I wouldn't even bother with basic personal hygiene. Long live the empire!

nearly true of all -isms, yes? that is, exploitation and bullshitting, and the future take hindquarter. Humans are such nasty beasts.

Research doesn't support this concept of human nature. Humans have been shown to be inherently cooperative. Our ability to work together toward a common goal was an evolutionary advantage that helped us get this far. Capitalism incentivizes ppl to act in ways that are inhumane.

That is exactly what capitalism is. And as for us capitalists, we are so heartless and pathetic for supporting a system that in 250 years of existence has caused more progress on all fronts than hundreds thousands of years of mankind. But yeah we are the problem, cuz Marx said so.

Only technological progress, not spiritual, not for any other form of life that doesn't produce a profit.

Everything is so tied into the web of capitalism that it's hard to conceive of any alternative, probably until total environmental destruction and then it'll be too late. Always look on the bright side of life.
