Ayn Rand wrote like 10,000 pages about how there were two kinds of people: "producers", and "moochers". Moochers make nothing, but merely sponge off society. The amazing thing is that landlords were apparently in the "producer" category.

It's the same when people justify business owners making billions because they "work hard for like 100 hours a week." Great, so let's pay them for 100 hours of work. But that's not a billion dollars, they make that from skimming off the top of their employee's work.

And given that most landlords (especially the larger ones) just outsource all of that work to property management companies and/or the on-site superintendent (who gets compensated somehow).
