Probably the weirdest thing about capitalism is that billionaires own entire sports. The sport of American Football, which millions invest time and energy into…like 30 assholes completely control. Why does anyone allow this? The cities should own the teams. Obviously.
It's truly mind boggling, when you think about it, that cities have to bribe billionaires to keep their own sports team. The team that only exists because the city has supported it to begin with. It's a system that is beyond irrational.

At spanish soccer we are also facing that issue. Despite that, the biggest sides (Barcelona and Madrid) keep choicing their bureaus by elections where the season-ticket holders have the right to vote.
And it's all made possible by a Supreme Court ruling that "exhibitions of sport" are exempt from antitrust law.

at the very least, I’m all for publicly owned teams.
You know what else is beyond irrational, though? That people actually pay money to watch other people throw/kick a ball around for a couple hours.
Or we could all just embrace e-sports and leave this archaic physical sport behind us. E-sport don't need no fancy arenas and stadiums. Just a few screens and some good broadband. Come now...join us!
It’s amazing. Green Bay is the only city that owns its team and its worked out so amazingly well for them the league has basically banned any other city from doing the same.
