if anything we should make it easier for kids to get guns, that way when there is a school shooting, odds will be that the next school shooter will already have his gun ready, and he can stop the first school shooter.

But seriously, calls for disarming the population without disarming the police are usually just attempts to concentrate more power into the hands of the elite.

You can't very well disarm the police while you have an armed populace, but once your populace is a bit less armed, policemen with guns feel a lot less necessary. Ideally you end up with armed policemen just looking ridiculous, as here in the UK.

But in the USA the "populace" that's most interested in owning guns seems in league with the police. I think gun rights activists cheer every increase of the surveillance state and every erosion of civil rights... except gun rights for white people.
