Capitalists: we can't have communism because it might corrupt people into having an extra loaf of bread. Also capitalists: the fact that 1% of people own 50% of the world's wealth is definitely not corrupt or based on exploitation.

Actually there is an idea that how capitalism works depends on how capitalists think it works. So if owners of means of production have an illusion that producing quality products is the best way to gain profit, they will try. But they generally don't have such illusions.
