I mean equality of outcome is very hard to establish without some kind of authoritarianism. Some people are inherently better than others at certain things. We can seek to lower the gap between the successful and unsuccesful and discourage heirarchies from forming as a result..

But realistically a more achievable goal is equality of outset, where every single individual has access to a quality education, healthcare, and proper childcare outside of school. That means doing away with nepotism and inheritance too.

Mobility is the opposite of random. When "the boss" family is immutable over generations, the current bosses are an essentially random accident of history. With mobility, those with talent or hard work rise towards the top, overcoming the otherwise random ordering.

I'd argue it's far more random with an oligarchical structure. It's all determined by who your mom and dad are. That's far more random than how educated, or talented, or motivated you are.
