A "centrist" isn't someone who is "reasonable between to extremes", a centrist is someone who enthusiastically takes the side of existing power.
Well, one thing centrists are extreme at is getting mad online. More outrage over this tweet than any for a while. I guess that's what happens when your whole thing is to smugly put yourself above criticism while sucking up to power. Hard to take any criticism whatsoever.

A centrist is someone who isn't authoritarian, libertarian, left-wing, or right-wing. It's someone who doesn't adhere to labels because both the left and the right have some good ideas (gun control is technically right-wing, for example)

In some ways centrists might be more reasonable than the extremes though, and they take the side of existing power not because they like it but because there is no reasonable alternative.
