Creating a commodity isn't breaking the monopoly of monetary policy, and that's what Bitcoin is: a commodity, not a currency. You could trade in gold or oil, but neither of those are currency, either. Bitcoin resembles a currency only slightly more than Beanie Babies did.

Creates motive for innovation. Already miners go across seas where solar and hydro energy is cheaper. We won't see that innovation anytime soon with the current tariffs.
