Libertarians traditionally see government as the big threat to personal freedom. They overlook the threat of corporations, and the value of government in protecting individuals from corporate abuse.

What I’ve been saying for years! Corporations are the “big brother” we have to worry about; the ones taking our freedoms. Drug testing? Social media policing?

As if today's bourgeois democracy is in any way truly democratic. "The executive of the modern state is but a committee for managing the common affairs of the whole bourgeoisie." Authority isn't checked by the state, it is maintained. The state is a product of capitalism.

Is there any country where the electorate have more of a say in the decisions a leader makes while in office? I've always found it a little strange that we get to choose one of two main candidates, and then more or less have no subsequent influence.
