The relationship between humans and cats is a very symmetrical one in some ways.
I often laugh at my cat because of how important he thinks he is, but then I realize that he's probably laughing at me for the same reason.

I think it is more likely that your cat simply lacks the same level of social intelligence you posses and does not consider or comprehend what you think yourself in any way that resembles your anthropomorphized estimation of his thoughts.
