Except it works and the system doesn't fail. There is one thing which has collapsed is Communism. Multiple times.
Capitalism allocates resources efficiently. Oh, and also…if we don't all keep constantly buying a bunch of shit we don't need, the system collapses and everyone starves.

A recession and depression are routine events under capitalism where quite literally everything regresses and lives and savings are destroyed. Its the business cycle or whatever you want to call it and its not a bug, its a feature. Every 10 years or so the system breaks.
