With or, without the Coronavirus the privatised profit driven US healthcare system ensures that 68,000 people die yearly because, they cannot afford medicine and a further 500,000 declare bankruptcy because they cannot afford horrifically overpriced medical treatment.
COVID-19 came late to the United States. Many countries had already shown us the template for beating it. It's fairly simple really, all you have to do is value human life above money. This, unfortunately, we could not do.

No states appear to be watching the others to carefully gauge a response -- reference to national narratives only prevails. In Britain the Blitz; in the US, exceptionalism; in Sweden, discipline. Crazy! And all countries, as far as I can see, tripped over concern for $$$
