The reason the American government can't build a temporary hospital in 10 days like China can is because our government is intentionally inept. They are actively kept from any organization to improve people's lives, so as not to "compete with the private sphere" and harm profits.

We have the money. We have the industry. We have the expertise. But ideal capitalism wants government to be prevented from doing anything useful for society. And the private sector will never find profit in "being prepared to build pop-up hospitals", so it can't do it either.

"so it won't do it either" private industry can, but there's no money in helping people, so they choose to let them die the entire system needs to be burned to the ground

your administration is indeed prepared to build a pop up morgue in an ice hockey stadium. from a distance it starts to look like a milton friedman version of soylent green.

Wrong, it is because the country is infected with overregulation and excess bureaucracy.

i love that the rationale given for not enacting the defense production act is that he wants the businesses to volunteer. but if they do, they have to raise their own capital to convert operations and pay people 24/7. with the DPA, the govt gives them the capital to get started.

why would you volunteer to spend your own money to do a favor for someone else when you could take their money to do the favor?

Our government also lacks the political autonomy to make quick decisions in favor of the people. Bipartisan Congress contributes to this stagnation.
