It’s almost like rich people funded universities of higher education and then made it clear through a thousand not so subtle hints that their chief ethicists should use only confounding esoteric terms and waste as much time as possible on inanities.

Because philosophers are supposed to JUSTIFY the ruling class. Look at all the mental gymnastics to justify property relations. Academia is the new preisthood and the questions are quite clearly framed for the ruling class - for example in the division of "ethics" and "politics"
