Even the most ghoulish business owners generally realize that they might have to lose profits during this time. Landlords seem to think if everyone is laid off that means the people who work for a living should all sign over their savings accounts to their landlords.

Being a landlord isn't a real job.

I don’t understand this? When I was younger my aunt had a couple of properties after her husband passed away. She ended up selling because it was too much work for the small amount she was left with after costs (taxes, insurance, repairs, upkeep). Seemed like a real job to me?

Landlords may give you a grace period but you will have to eventually pay it back. You can't live there for free.

But you need to organize with the rest of your landlords tenants. Unless you’re in an area where it’s been made clear rent will be delayed, you can’t just not pay rent and expect that to work out well

Sad to see all of the pro-landlord boot-licking here. Seemingly, when there is a disaster, the entirety of the burden should fall on those who produce stuff, whereas those who get money given to them simply as a consequence of owning stuff must be protected at all costs.

Cause banks will continue to foreclose and demand rent
-
No they won't. There's been a stop on foreclosures and evictions regarding mortgages.

Omg. What happens to landlords that have that property as their only income? That's just crayz. There's gotta be a way that works for both.

They can get a real job if they need money so bad.
