Billionaires use "philanthropy" which are in essence some of the spoils of dubiously gotten wealth not just to white wash there reputations but to keep doing what there doing on a ongoing business

This in turn acts as an impediment to achieving genuine societal progress and occurs whenever they receive criticism in the press it serves as a distraction for there misdeeds for example the manner in which they treat there workforce

General point is true, but Rowling's given away at least 15% of her fortune and denies being a billionaire any longer due to her charitable work. As the 1% go, she's better than most.

Maybe she could extend that permanently so that no school has to pay copyright to her ever again to read her books to schoolchildren. It's not like she's struggling for cash
