A rational response to decreased production is simply to decrease our consumption. Unfortunately for us, our economic system is completely incapable of dealing with decreased consumption without widespread chaos, mass unemployment, and instability.

I mean it’s technically a decrease in demand

creating a lack of money on their own customers, making the deman decrease, therefore having to lay off more people (cause they still consdier workers as a cost instead of an asset, or an investment or FUCKING PEOPLE) So they create their own ruin by draggin everyone down

Somehow, it escapes the notice of our business community that their spreadsheets are all attached. One man's employee is another man's customer. How do they not see this?

Capitalism is not about industry and production, it's about accumulation and retention of money. Laying off workers saves the oligarchs money, that's why they do it, that's also why they don't pay taxes and reduce wages to their minimal expression.

Capitalism is irrational, but companies are now firing employees because of reduced demand, not reduced production. This is rational within the frame of capitalism.

It's rational within the context of the company that fires its employees, but deeply irrational in the context of capitalism itself.pic.twitter.com/TYyVZBd9Sq
