Her policy platform isn't what was important, what they can't have from Sanders is that he openly states uncontroversial facts, such as that the workers and the bosses have an inherently antagonistic relationship. Taxes can go up, but this kind of thing can't be openly discussed.
We live under the largest propaganda machine ever constructed, and those in power must maintain it vigilantly. That's how you end up with millions of people who viscerally hate socialism but cannot define it. In order to maintain this, the ruling class need absolute solidarity.
To improve the lot of people, it´s more important to raise taxes on the rich, bring back unions and fix the voting and healthcare system than to get your theory right.
We don't live in a direct democracy where we're voting to enact those policies. We're voting on a non-legislative position. The rhetoric the POTUS employs to advance their agenda is no less substantive than the platform itself.
Sanders doesn't want to destroy capitalism either. He just wants to reform it. Wants to take a tiny portion from the rich and give it to the poor. For the rich this not a war about money, it is a war about principles.
There is no inherent antagonism among human relationships (rich/poor, old/young, educated/noneducated, male/female, etc.), only potential for antagonism. Whether we succumb to envy and fragmentation or unify under our human commonalities and God is a judgment of our characters.
