In fact in many ways Bloomberg entered the race solely to ensure Trump's project, white nationalism combined with hyper capitalism, is carried out no matter which side wins the general election.
Not to mention the extremely obvious fact that the media ignores, which is that if Bloomberg actually wanted to stop Trump, he could have spent $300 million to enter the Republican primary. Even if he lost he would have hurt Trump in the General. But that's not really his goal.
I'm totally against Bloomberg, but I don't buy this. The GOP already isn't bothering to hold contests in a bunch of important states, all to protect Trump from... Bill Weld, who hasn't held elected office in 22 years. If Bloomberg tried to run, they'd just cancel the whole thing.
And have the entire Bloomberg organization go on about it 24/7? Not sure it would be so easy.
