What if it did and we're living through it?
In retrospect it's kinda of too bad that the Large Hadron Collider didn't set off some kind of doomsday event and destroy the Earth once and for all.

Sometimes I wonder if the LHC didn't open a rift into a wacky parallel universe where a reality TV star is the president, pizza is a vegetable, torture is legal, and spinach is poison (yes, this is loosely inspired by a Patton Oswalt skit)
