It’s not just ultra rich people. My middle class in-laws are just as angry at the prospect of the poors having healthcare.

The middle class always wants to imagine itself as closer to being rich than poor.

We have universal healthcare here and I actually heard a friend say "she doesn't mind paying taxes for it but it bothers her that other people pay less and get the same service", they don't seem to hear themselves when they speak
-
Well they are saying that because they heard it. In fact our media whispers and screams this and it underlies a lot of the presumptions of their messaging.

it's about killing healthcare/insurance as a parasitic market because the state should keep its population healthy, this is a pretty bad takes that imply massive waiting lines in public healthcare systems
-
and that only happens when you elect neoliberals to slash hospital budgetshttps://www.thelocal.fr/20140220/woman-lies-dead-in-french-er-for-six-hours …

I ask this in good faith: some people I speak with say that nationalized healthcare systems like Canada or the UK or really anywhere outside of the US lead to sometimes-deadly wait times for treatment/surgery. Is this accurate??
-
If you're in a life threatening situation, you will be aided as soon as humanly possible. There's systems in place to determine who needs help the soonest and to what degree.

This is an actual problem here in Canada
-
Yes, the problem is when the state decides to implement universal health care, taxes its citizens appropriately, and then doesn't fund the health system appropriately.
