The weirdest thing about Capitalist ideology is that people come to believe that property relations themselves are a meritocracy. They think the company owners must be indispensable great men for owning stock, while the people actually doing the work are interchangeable pawns.

It's like capitalist publications, companies, stock owners, biographies, academic institutions, and media don't continually pat themselves on the back and give themselves awards for essentially signing off on and taking credit for other people's labour
