Centrists aren't a real thing. It's not a political stance, it is political stasis. It is just supporting the status quo. When the status quo is fascism, that makes you a fascist, not a centrist.
If you aren't careful, centrists will have you believe that enthusiastically endorsing the status quo and believing the dominant ideology of your age makes you an "open minded pragmatist", while having any doubts that this is as good as it gets makes you a "dogmatist".

As a centrist myself, i'm just not trying to fall into any other pit falls that either side tends to lean on. Balance can be a reasonably good thing and people tend to forget that in this modern era. Doesn't mean a lack of change cannot be done, only that it's done safely.

Meanwhile, extremists nearly always want you to believe that extreme beliefs are the only truly open minded beliefs, when in reality, some extreme beliefs are just not very good.
